Regarding sailing pleasures, Poros island may be the safest bet. Just 25 nautical miles away from Piraeus, it’s an easily accessible destination.

If you’re dreaming of a vacation that includes feeling the wind in your hair and the spray of the sea on your skin while enjoying magnificent scenery, well, get ready for Poros. The ideal destination for sailing holidays near Athens, the island lies 25 nautical miles from Piraeus and a stone’s throw from the Peloponnese at Galata. Ideal anchorage spots on the southern side of the port of Poros, such as the Βay of Monastiri, despite its depth, a perfect mooring for those who looking for quietness and relaxation. One of the hit list anchorages in the Saronic is the Russian Naval Base, else known as the Βay of Daskalio, which is well protected from all winds. Love Bay, with a confined mooring space, is another well protected anchorage with emerald waters full of pine trees. And, of course the Megalo Neorio, a large bay full of vegetation found inside the protected canal of Poros.
